Fundraising
Fundraising Aims
The goal of the Association's fundraising activities is to:
- Have money set aside to assist members and WS individuals if they have to travel interstate or overseas for medical needs. This is planned to be payment for the flight for the 2nd parent as the WA Government only pays for one parent to fly interstate with the Williams Syndrome child or adult for urgent medical treatment.
- Be able to provide catering and/or entertainment at picnics and social gatherings.
- Have family weekends away every 2 years that we can assist by subsidising.
- Establish a library for members with texts, journals and stories regarding WS.
- To conduct a medical conference at PMH in Perth, on Williams Syndrome, for our members and other interested parties within the next 2-3 years. This is planned to have medical, education, disabilities support and health experts as guest speakers. Such a medical conference would also provide an avenue for our WS member families to hear about recent medical and research findings and hopefully also gain family insights and perspectives from networking (which is also one of the aims of our social gatherings such as the AGM picnic and Christmas picnic functions held annually).
Sponsorship and Donations
With the Association having endorsed Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status with the ATO, all sponsorship & donations to the WSAWA Inc are fully tax deductible. It would be much appreciated if the Association's members work towards obtaining additional sponsorship or donations from companies or organisations they work for, are involved with or talk to.
